Meet Momster — And Other Reasons to Be a Playful Parent

Let’s be honest: play doesn’t always come easy. We’re busy. We’re tired. We’ve forgotten how to make silly voices or build forts or turn into a villain named Momster.

But the playful parent is still in you. And when we lead with play — we invite joy, connection, and creativity back into our homes.

My alter ego Momster (who has a legendary stink-eye and a dramatic growl) makes my kids laugh almost every time. But I’ve learned to read the room — Momster is no good when the moment calls for tenderness or quiet. That’s when Cuddle Mom steps in.

Playfulness isn’t about doing it right. It’s about showing up with presence and not taking ourselves too seriously. Your kids aren’t asking for perfection — they’re asking for connection.

Big hugs,

Tara
